How much are you paying for cloud egress?

The fee charged when data leaves your cloud provider's network. It's invisible until you look — and on most clouds, it scales as your customers use you.

How the math works

Egress fees are charged per gigabyte of data leaving your cloud provider's network — every API response to a mobile app, every video stream, every file download. Global hyperscalers charge $0.08–0.12 per GB (≈ ₹6.6–9.9/GB at ₹83/USD). Other Indian cloud providers typically charge ₹3–5/GB. The Wahda Cloud charges ₹0 — bandwidth is included in every flavor.

For a typical Indian SaaS at Series A scale moving roughly 5 TB of outbound traffic per month, that's the difference between ₹4.5 lakh / year on a hyperscaler and ₹0 / year on The Wahda Cloud — for the exact same workload.

The calculator above gives a directional estimate using published industry-average rates. Your real bill depends on your specific provider, region, and traffic patterns. To get a precise number, open your cloud Cost Explorer, filter to “Data Transfer”, and look at the last 90 days.

Managed databases follow a similar pattern. Most providers meter a managed PostgreSQL or MySQL instance separately from compute — billed by the instance-hour, on top of everything else on your bill. A small production instance runs roughly $0.02–0.25/hr on a global hyperscaler (compute only, storage extra) or ₹5,700–22,000/mo on other Indian cloud providers, depending on instance size. The Wahda Cloud bundles 1 managed database instance directly into the Professional plan (₹8,999/mo) — no separate metering, no second line item on your invoice.

Frequently asked questions

What are cloud egress fees?

Egress fees are the charges your cloud provider levies for data leaving their network. They scale with your customer traffic. The Wahda Cloud charges ₹0 on every flavor.

Why doesn't The Wahda Cloud charge egress fees?

Charging customers for serving their own customers is a pricing model that punishes growth. We bake bandwidth into the flavor price — every Wahda flavor includes a generous monthly transfer allowance with no per-GB charge on top.

Do I still pay separately for a managed database?

Not on the Professional plan. Most providers — hyperscalers and Indian clouds alike — meter a managed PostgreSQL or MySQL instance separately, by the hour, as its own line item on top of compute. The Wahda Cloud's Professional plan (₹8,999/mo) bundles 1 managed database instance directly into the price — no separate metering. Starter does not include a managed database; Enterprise includes unlimited instances.

What else does The Wahda Cloud charge?

Compute, storage, and managed services beyond what's bundled. See the full pricing page for all 10 standard flavors. Starter is ₹1,599/mo (2 vCPU, 4 GB, 80 GB SSD, no bundled database). Professional is ₹8,999/mo (8 vCPU, 32 GB, 400 GB, 1 bundled database instance).
